Install node.js on Amazon Linux

If you ever want to quickly install node.js on an Amazon Linux box without having to compile from source, you can do it quickly with the following 3 commands:

cd /tmp
wget http://nodejs.org/dist/v0.10.26/node-v0.10.26-linux-x64.tar.gz
cd /usr/local && sudo tar --strip-components 1 -xzf /tmp/node-v0.10.26-linux-x64.tar.gz

And the you can confirm the install was successful with

node -v

You should see

v0.10.26

The above wget command can be customized for a different version of node.js or a different architecture. You would just replace v0.10.26 with whatever version you are targetting and replace x64 with x86 if you want to target the 32-bit platform instead of the 64-bit.
